The Waratah Centre is a Department of Education and Training facility established to assist in meeting the complex educational needs of students Y7 – Y12. The Waratah Centre targets students at risk of disengaging with education. The facility will work with those students who, for a range of reasons, are finding it difficult to function in mainstream classes and schools.
All students are given the opportunity to study a parallel academic program that will enable them to integrate into mainstream education. The students will not be disadvantaged academically by participating in the program at the Waratah Centre. Due to the high staff student ratio the opportunity for intensive remediation also exist.
A range of professionals from within Department of Education and Training including school counsellors, home-school liaison officers, teacher aides, and ISTB staff support the programs at the Waratah Centre
